Early Work
Starting life as an Apprentice Engineer, Paul’s early working career was eclectic to say the least. Eventually, & definitely more by luck than judgement Paul found himself working as a Mortgage Broker.
To this point the chequered employment history had served as an apprenticeship but now the entrepreneurial journey had started. Rising quickly, he was soon asked to form a partnership with one of the company owners & Portfolio was born. After the retirement of his partner, Paul become sole owner and decided to split the company into two separate entities.
Portfolio became a Financial Advisory firm & Zing became the mortgage firm. Taking Zing to 14 advisers and systemising all processes to ensure that every customer received repeatable quality, soon industry recognition followed, more of that below.
Going Digital
Feeling that digital was the way forward, Paul decided to sell Zing (Management Buy Out) and also sell Portfolio (Client Acquisition / company liquidation).
With this freedom of time, Mortgages Online was borne but the timing was less than perfect. With FCA delays followed by COVID restrictions it was hard to build momentum with a fledgling team. Paul had definitely fell out of love with the mortgage industry so sold Mortgages Online to a competitor for far less than had been invested, but by that point happiness seemed more important than ambition.
Paul also sold the admin company that had spun off from the mortgage businesses (Management Buy Out).
Business Coach
Having been the recipient of Business Coaching for the previous 10 years, a wealth of business knowledge based on real world experience & surviving two major recessions, becoming a business coach seemed a great option for a part-time career.
Within two years of working with a global leader in Business Coaching Paul received recognition of his contribution to coaching. Not one to rest on his laurels he & his business partner launched Grow Partnership with the aim of making Business Coaching more accessible to the SME Business Owner, a passion & commitment that he feels will remain in place.

Having built & sold four businesses then transferring to a successful career as a Business Coach & Mentor, there’s nothing more Paul enjoys than meeting with clients to help support their growth from Technicians to fully fledged business owners. “Seeing the change & growth in the business owner is far more rewarding even than seeing their businesses flourish”.
When Paul isn’t helping turn small business owners into entrepreneurs, he can be found searching the internet for interesting cars, driving interesting cars or walking around fields of interesting cars, usually with the long suffering love of his life, Julie. Yes, he likes cars………….a lot.
